Introduction:
Today I’m speaking with SLPand AAC consultant, Lauren Enders. I’ve been a huge fan of Lauren for a longtime, and it was an honor to have her on the show. Lauren is an expert in AAC and has beeninvited to speak and present at various conferences. Today’s episode is jammedpacked with resources, so you might want to have paper and pen ready as youlisten.
Lauren shares how shekeeps abreast of developments in the field, at least partly, through socialmedia, both as a follower and as a contributor of content. She also shares someof her go-to resources, especially resources around AAC and how SLPs canintroduce and use AAC in classrooms.
Lauren and I go from granular to big picture in this episode. Lauren shares some amazing tips regarding how to get buy-in from the powers-that-be for AAC implementation in schools. We also get philosophical about the importance of communication – not just for expressing needs and wants but for the fundamental human need for connection.
