53: The One About Bilingual Speech Therapy with Sarah Wu

Listen to the podcast here.

Introduction:

Today I’m speaking with teletherapist and bilingual SLP, Sarah Wu! She is a TPT author and YouTuber with a love for diversity. You’ve likely never met a Sarah like this one. Not only is she fluent in Spanish, but she also has a dual citizenship in Australia.

In today’s episode, we learn about Sarah’s unique background (for instance, she grew up in Wisconsin, but her father was from Australia, her parents were educators turned physician/lawyer...) Sarah is a fluent Spanish speaker, and she has resources for English-speaking speech therapists who have a desire to learn to speak Spanish. She also offers bilingual resources to SLPs who work with Spanish-speakers.

Finally, you’ll learn why Sarah got into teletherapy and pro and cons of doing therapy through that medium.

We had a super interesting talk. Hope you’ll join us!

Topics/Questions:

  1. You provide bilingual speech therapy and resources. What are your most popular bilingual resources on TPT?
  2. Teletherapy has always fascinated me. What is it like and what should SLPs know before they start?
  3. You offer a membership program. Can you tell us about it?
  4. I’m excited to hear about your upcoming course. What is the topic and how can SLPs stay tuned?
