71: The One About Autism & Self-Regulation With Amanda Binns

Today I am joined by Amanda Binns from Speech Language Matters! Amanda Binns is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and PhD candidate at the University of Western Ontario. I had the pleasure of seeing Amanda speak at the 2019 ASHA convention.
Amanda is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the Torontoarea and PhD candidate with the University of Western Ontario. She began her careerworking in a private practice, seeing a wide range of clients in schools,hospitals, and in-home settings. Then went on to work as part of amultidisciplinary team who collaborated on a parent coaching treatment efficacystudy published in the international peer-reviewed journals Autism and JADD. Sheis a certified Expert DIR Speech Language Pathologist and has been a TrainingLeader in the DIR/Floortime certificate program since 2010. She supported therole out of the Canadian Self-Regulation Initiative and worked as aSelf-Regulation Consultant under the direction of Dr. Stuart Shanker at TMC(The MEHRIT Centre).
Amanda’s clinical practice involves working with children and families using a combination of trans-disciplinary parent coaching, reflective parent meetings, and direct therapy. She also provides ongoing professional support to teachers, designing classroom curriculum and individualizing programs for students.
